Batch workflow for product photos

Standardize composition, dimensions, background, branding, format and naming for repeatable product publishing.

Build a repeatable plan

Standardize composition, dimensions, background, branding, format and naming for repeatable product publishing.

  • Define separate requirements for hero, detail and thumbnail images.
  • Test edges, color, shadow and watermark placement.
  • Keep editable masters separate from upload copies.

Record destination, accepted format, dimensions, size, transparency and metadata requirements. Test an ordinary and a difficult sample before applying verified settings to the batch. Separate originals, intermediate results and delivery files.

Recommended order

  1. Organize sources and remove duplicates, damaged files and orientation errors.
  2. Resolve composition, crop and dimensions before watermark, format and compression.
  3. Download and verify a sample in the destination before the batch.
  4. Verify counts, naming and unusual files, and retain settings.

Verify before delivery

Inspect text, hair, edges, gradients and transparency at 100%. Sample the first, last, largest and metadata-sensitive files. Websites may resize or recompress, so perform a real upload test.

A downloadable result is not automatically deliverable. Check extension, MIME type, dimensions, ratio, size, pages or frames and destination compatibility.

Risks and boundaries

Browser processing depends on memory, pixels, frames, pages and codec support. Split large work and keep the tab open. Re-encoding may remove EXIF, GPS, ICC or other data.

For identity, print, legal evidence or archives, follow the issuing authority, printer or archival standard and preserve untreated originals.
