Before you convert

Remove embedded location, device, date and capture information before sharing photos.

  • Re-export removes most embedded metadata.
  • Also inspect filenames and visible image content.
  • Keep originals needed as evidence or photography archives.

Choose an output by destination software, transparency, dimensions, size, color and metadata. Renaming an extension does not change internal encoding.

Steps

  1. 1Open the linked tool and add one representative source file.
  2. 2Confirm orientation, transparency, color and pixel dimensions.
  3. 3Choose target format, dimensions and quality for the destination.
  4. 4Process and inspect the sample at 100% and in the destination.
  5. 5Run the verified batch and retain originals and settings.

Quality and compatibility checks

Check composition in the preview, then inspect text, hair, gradients and high-contrast edges at 100%. Test transparent files over light and dark backgrounds.

Browsers, operating systems and destination software can use different decoders and color management. Verify important files in their final environment and retain the source.

Choosing quality, dimensions and background

If source dimensions greatly exceed the final display, resize first and then reduce quality gradually. This avoids damaging text, outlines and fine texture merely to meet a file-size target. A lossy quality value is an encoder setting rather than a percentage of visual information retained.

When the source has transparency and the target does not, choose a deliberate white, brand or page-matching background. For a different aspect ratio, decide between padding, cover cropping and retaining the original dimensions.

Common use cases

  • Web publishing: export at the real display width and compare modern and fallback formats.
  • Form upload: satisfy dimensions and ratio before file size, then test a real submission.
  • Office and email: use a format the recipient can open and avoid oversized originals.
  • Design delivery: keep an editable master beside the publishing copy.

Browser processing limits

Format reading depends on the browser, operating-system decoder and internal encoding. Speed depends on pixels, frames, pages and available memory. If preview fails, test a current browser and reduce the batch.

Conversion, compression or redraw may change EXIF, GPS, ICC, IPTC and XMP data. Preserve an untreated source when capture information, color profiles or evidential originals matter.

Frequently asked questions

Are files uploaded?

No. Source files are read and processed by the current browser.

Can I process a batch?

Yes, although large files should be grouped according to available device memory.

Does conversion improve quality?

Conversion cannot create missing source detail and re-encoding may change size, metadata or color.

What should I verify?

Check dimensions, orientation, transparency, text and edges, then test one file in the destination.
